I have the honour to invite your attention to the question of the supply of crockery for Government House.

2. Many years ago certain standarde were set up, but with the passage of time these have largely fallen into disuse. It is not li.ely that any until 1920, owing to the very high prices of materials and the present disorganisation caused by the want of labour. preliminary to any such scheme, it is necessary to ascertain the views of the Colonial Governments and to put before you the con- aiderations in its favour, as far as they can be judged from our point of view.

4. It is probable that the idea of a standard will comend itself to you in principle, but the difficulty is to set up such a standard as will be acceptable to the present tenants of Government House. In view of this ad. itted obstacle, we have tentatively selected a pattern ourselves, and this has been accepted as suitable by the Governments of East Africa, Trinidad and Gibraltar, to which not inconsiderable supplies have been sent.
